The first speakers have been announced for the UK Community Radio Network, Connecting Communities Conference at Kings House Conference Centre in Bedford on Saturday 19th November.
The event follows the sell-out Community Radio Conference in 2021 and focuses on those with a background or working in the industry, sharing their stories, learnings and ideas with the sector.
The conference is for anyone who is interested in radio, from Community Radio, Internet Radio, Student, Hospital, BBC, and Commercial Radio - the conference welcomes everyone.
Speakers announced so far include Patrick Hart, Executive Editor at BBC Radio West Midlands, who was previously Chief Executive Officer at Bristol community station BCfm Radio.
Other speakers include the Voice North Devon Operations Director Jim Trevelyan, sharing how creating ILR style community radio can still create positive social gain, sharing some examples of how that’s worked for the station in North Devon, with more speakers to be announced in the weeks to come.
They also welcome the host of the Decentered Media podcast, Rob Watson discussing the deregulation of Community Radio, as well as number of Community Radio alumni now working in Commercial Radio and the BBC.

As part of the 2022 Conference and Community Radio Awards, the organisers have launched a bursary scheme to make sure the events are accessible to everyone in the sector, following external support from PlayoutOne, In;Quality, Hippynet and Autopod.
The scheme is open to managers, directors and volunteers at Ofcom licensed community radio stations and is currently set to provide up to 15 places at the Conference and Awards, plus up to £50 in transport costs.
